Mizuki Horino with the certificate from the Japanese Society of Microbial Ecology

 

Mizuki Horino won the Best Poster Award in the Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees student category from the Japanese Society of Microbial Ecology. This was awarded for her poster presentation at the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Microbial Ecology in Hiroshima from 28-31 October 2024. Horino is a 2nd-year master student at ELSI and supervised by Professor Kosuke Fujishima.
 
Her poster title was ‘Creation of Hydrogen-oxidizing bacteria Growing via Semi-Artificial Carbon Fixation Pathway through Long-Term Laboratory Evolution.

 

‘I was quite nervous as it was my first conference presentation, so I am truly honoured to receive this award,’ said Horino. ‘I will continue to put forth my best effort, hoping that this research can make a meaningful contribution to the scientific field.’
