June, 2009<\/th>\r\nThe program called “From the Earth to ‘Earths'” was selected as a Global COE Program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) aimed at providing focused support for formation of superior international educational research centers. The program became the predecessor of the Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI).<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
October, 2012<\/th>\r\nELSI was selected as one of the research centers designated in the World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) of MEXT.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
December, 2012<\/th>\r\nELSI was established in Ookayama Campus.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
March, 2013<\/th>\r\nInauguration Ceremony; the First International Symposium was held.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
March, 2014<\/th>\r\nThe Second International Symposium \u201cOrigin & Evolution of the Earth-Life System\u201d was held.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
August, 2014<\/th>\r\nELSI Summer School was held.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
January, 2015<\/th>\r\nThe Third International Symposium \u201cLife in the Universe\u201d, and Public Lecture \u201cLife in the Universe\u201d were held.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
April, 2015<\/th>\r\nELSI Origins Network (EON) was established by the grant from the John Templeton Foundation (till December 2017).<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
October, 2015<\/th>\r\nThe new building (ELSI-1) was completed; Opening Ceremony.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
January, 2016<\/th>\r\nThe Fourth International Symposium \u201cEarly Earth, Venus, and Mars: Three Experiments in Biological Origins\u201d, and Public Lecture \u201cDoes Water Define a Planet’s Habitability?\u201d were held.\r\nThe First Kavli-IPMU\/ELSI Joint Public Lecture “Quest for Origins” was held.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
January, 2017<\/th>\r\nThe Fifth International Symposium \u201cExpanding Views on the Emergence of the Biosphere\u201d, and Public Lecture \u201cWe Don’t Know \u2018How We Began\u2019 \u2013 Quest of Astrobiology for Origin of Life \u2013\u201c were held.\r\nThe Second Kavli-IPMU\/ELSI Joint Public Lecture “Quest for Origins” was held.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
January, 2018<\/th>\r\nThe Sixth International Symposium \u201cBuilding Bridges from Earth to Life: From Chemical Mechanism to Ancient Biology\u201d, and Public Lecture were held.\r\nThe Third Kavli-IPMU\/ELSI Joint Public Lecture “Quest for Origins” was held.\r\nEON-ELSI Winter School was held.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
April, 2018<\/th>\r\nELSI hosted Japan SciCom 2018.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
January, 2019<\/th>\r\nThe Seventh International Symposium \u201cComparative Emergence\u201d, and Public Lecture \u201cThe Forefront of Solar System Exploration \u2013Seeking New Encounters \u2013\u201c were held.\r\nOpening Ceremony of “Mishima Hall.”\r\nThe Fourth Kavli-IPMU\/IRCN\/ELSI Joint Public Lecture “Quest for Origins” was held.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
