But there’s SOO much to say! Let’s spend some time looking at space mistakes. From exploding eye balls to refueling inside stars, let’s spend some time thinking about ways movies could be better if they got the science (even just a little bit) better.
\n
\nSpeaker info:
\nKipp Cannon was born, raised, and educated in Canada, in Toronto and Edmonton. He worked for several years as a postdoctoral researcher, first at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, then the California Institute of Technology, and finally the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, during which time he primarily developed a system for detecting gravitational waves from colliding black holes and neutron stars. He currently a professor of physics at The University of Tokyo, but his qualification for this talk is mainly his life-long past-time watching science fiction.
\n
\nDate: Thursday, 18 April 2024
\nTime: 20:00 (doors open at 19:30)
\nVenue: Good Heavens, Shimokitazawa
\nInfo: https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/1159777422048963<\/a>
\n
\nSpace Cafe Tokyo is hosted by members of ELSI, Kavli-IPMU, UTokyo, and NAOJ. Space Cafe Tokyo brings science a bit closer to the public in a cosy environment in Shimokitazawa. The event is held monthly where we invite experts, scholars, and students in the field of space\/astronomy-related to present a research project or a topic that they are working on.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8054,"template":"","news_events_cat":[6],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.elsi.jp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news_events\/8051"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.elsi.jp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news_events"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.elsi.jp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news_events"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.elsi.jp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/8054"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.elsi.jp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8051"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"news_events_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.elsi.jp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news_events_cat?post=8051"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
